About this property

Holds Small Or Large Groups, Sleeps up to 40, 8 Bedrooms, Separate Basement Suit

Payne Lake Lodge (20 minutes east of Waterton National Park) is only 3 Km off the beaten path (highway number 5) yet perfectly sequestered in the hills just above the well know fisherman's Payne Lake. It sits on nearly a quarter section of treed land just waiting to be explored and enjoyed.

It is rare to find affordable accommodations big enough to house more than one family. That's why we are unique and one of a kind. We are typically rented by family reunion groups but we also rent to small families or groups to. . We also have a cabin that holds up to six to eight people that can be rented separately. You may look at it on Vrbo 697699 and even another large lodge 3 km down the road that sleeps another 20 persons Vrbo 722581 and is very lovely with great mountain views and right on the highway
A full lodge booking (all 8 bedrooms including basement) is $875.00 per night for up to 30 persons plus taxes. Extra persons are 20.00 per person per night plus taxes. (children 2 and under are free) All prices are before taxes. The cleaning fee is 236.25.00 including tax. Though there is a cleaning fee our customers are still required to do a basic clean up before their departure. We provide a check list for this. At times we offer the lodge to rent by the room which is 250.00 per night for 4 people and 30.00 per extra person plus taxes. (This is offered on our off season only)
Priority is given to customers booking the full lodge and can be booked 2 years in advance. We have a minimum of two night booking.

We have 8 bedrooms with TWO large beds in each room as well as three futon couches, two extra double beds and one single bed in basement rec room. There are four bathrooms - one between every two bedrooms as well as a half bath. There is a lovely grand piano in the great room for musicians to enjoy. Our rec room has a full sized pool table, foosball table, t.v.s for DVD and video. Our fully equipped kitchen with two stoves, two fridges and another small kitchen in the basement makes handling large groups easy. There are multiple tables, chairs and sitting areas. There are five picnic tables on the deck with BBQ and a fantastic view overlooking Payne Lake and the Mountains. There are two fire pits as well. Paddle Boards and canoe are available for rental.
Most people rent this property because it is close to the famous and beautiful Waterton National Park but we have had customers tell us they loved just spending time at the lodge enjoying the pond, boats and exploring the hills.
This lodge is set up to accommodate upwards of 40 people plus customers are allowed to bring R.V.'s and put up tents for a charge of 30.00 per unit per day plus tax.
Towels are provided, folded sheets sets are placed on each bed for your use, garbage bags, toilet paper, hand soap are also provided. There is a laundry area which can be used for two dollars per load and customer provides own detergent.
It is our goal to make you feel completely at home and comfortable. Families come back again and again because it is simply one of the best locations, best priced, most accommodating large group facilities in the area. And..... there is SO MUCH TO DO in this little corner of Alberta! You and your family will love Payne Lake Lodge.

Beautiful spot for a family reunion!
The location is beautiful, with gorgeous views of Payne Lake and the mountains. The lodge was perfect for our family reunion with a large kitchen, two fridges, plenty of outdoor seating and lots of folding chairs and tables if we needed extra. We enjoyed the games and rec equipment (volleyball, football, pool, etc) as well as the grand piano. We also appreciated the excellent customer service and communication provided by our hosts.

Excellent Location
For our group of 30 the arrangements of the lodge itself was excellent. With large cooking area and games room. The view over looking PAYNE LAKE. We seem deer and heard the coyotes howling at nite. We would do it again. Wayne Traub

We are Eugene and Cheryl Davidsen and have managed Payne Lake Lodge for 13 years now. I (Cheryl) was born and raised here in southern Alberta and grew up in Mountain View. Payne Lake Lodge has an interesting story. It is owned by a wonderful Japanese lady named Yumi who still resides in Japan. She purchased the property back in the '90's when she came to visit Canada. In Japan she had met my nephew who was was on a two year LDS mission there. After his mission ended she requested to visit Canada. She fell in love with the land and was in awe at the wide open space of Alberta. She decided to purchase property and build a lodge. Though it took several years to complete, it has always been a spot for families to gather. As more and more people hear about the lodge it's booked many times two years in advance. But there are always spots for last minute bookings as well.

Why they chose this property

Families love this facility. It is in a private beautiful spot. You feel all to yourselves yet you are not that far away from the main stream. It seems to be in a perfect location only 20 minutes from several main attractions including- Waterton, Cardston, Great Canadian Barn Dance and even the U.S. border where the Glacier Parks are located. For families and friends to rent a large enough facility in Waterton, cost would be high. Many times you do not find a place that can keep everyone under one roof with a large enough room to all gather in. Imagine playing, singing and laughing to your hearts content. Imagine writing up an itinerary of amazing fun activities for your family event and only minutes away; hiking, biking, dancing, attending live theater, horse trail riding, ATVing, boating, swimming, fishing, old fashioned horse carriage rides and much much more. Imagine putting on programs in the lodge with a sound system for your entertainers in the family. Imagine doing treasure hunts, games, paint balling, water sliding; the ideas are endless for you and your family to have a hoot! We've had families bring in their own ATV's, their own play grounds, their own games, their own horses, even a train of carts pulled by a sit down lawn mower. Mini water slides can be made to slide down the hill right by the lodge. The field is big enough and flat enough to even have a great game of softball. In the winter you can skate on the pond and sled down the road. It's fantastically fun.
We have loved taking care of Payne Lake Lodge. The area is so beautiful and it is so satisfying to provide a place for families to gather. We clean it, we maintain it, we cherish it. It has become so dear to us because it brings families together! And.... they have a GREAT time!

What makes this property unique

By far, the best thing about Payne Lake Lodge is it's surrounding beauty. To stand on the deck and look out over Payne Lake with the sun going down behind the Rockies, to travel down the road towards the lodge and see Old Chief Mountain staring you majestically in the face, to actually see the star filled sky at nights, to hear the frogs singing, the coyotes yipping and best of all to see your family enjoying the beauty, the sounds, and the joy of just plain being together. It's simply the best.
